Server Rules — North City RP

General Standards

1You must be 18 or older to play. No exceptions. Lying about your age is grounds for a permanent ban.
2Treat all players and staff with basic respect. Harassment, hate speech, racism, sexism, or targeted toxicity results in an immediate permanent ban.
3All OOC (out-of-character) communication must be in English. IC language barriers are acceptable as deliberate roleplay.
4Do not discuss bans, warnings, or other players’ punishments in public. Use the Discord ticket system for all appeals and reports.
5Advertising other servers, communities, or products anywhere on North City platforms is a permanent ban.

Roleplay Standards

6Metagaming — using OOC information (streams, Discord calls, third-party knowledge) to influence IC decisions — is prohibited.
7Powergaming — forcing actions on other players, using unrealistic capabilities, or refusing to accept realistic RP consequences — is prohibited.
8Fear RP — your character must realistically value their life. A firearm pointed at you at close range means you comply unless you have clear tactical advantage.
9New Life Rule (NLR) — after death and respawn, your character has no memory of the events that led to their death. Do not return to the same scene for 15 minutes.
10You must maintain a developed character backstory. Characters exist to tell a story — treat them as such.

Combat & Conflict

11No RDM (Random Deathmatch) — killing another player without valid, documented IC justification or proper escalation is prohibited.
12No VDM (Vehicle Deathmatch) — using a vehicle as a weapon without clear RP justification is prohibited.
13No Combat Logging — disconnecting to avoid arrest, death, robbery, or any other IC consequence is a ban. If you must disconnect mid-scene, notify the other parties.
14All criminal actions — robberies, hits, kidnappings, gang wars — require documented IC justification traceable through your character history.
15Hostage situations require genuine RP negotiation. Hostages may not be harmed without cause, and situations must be kept realistic in duration.

Law Enforcement Standards

16LEO players must adhere to realistic use-of-force protocols. Lethal force requires proportional threat justification — document your reasoning.
17Officers may not abuse departmental authority. Corruption RP is permitted but must follow documented IC narrative — it is not a license for power plays.
18LEO uniforms, equipment, and vehicles must match your assigned agency. Impersonating another agency requires explicit IC justification and supervisor approval.
19Pursuits must follow realistic escalation. Officers may not initiate lethal force during a vehicle pursuit without extreme circumstances.

Technical Rules

20No cheating, hacking, modded clients, injection tools, or any software that provides an unfair advantage. Permanent ban, no appeal.
21No exploiting game bugs, duplication glitches, or system loopholes. If you find a bug, report it. Abusing it — even once — is a ban.
22Stream sniping — watching a player’s stream to gain IC information — is metagaming and treated with the same severity.
23Do not spam server resources. Excessive vehicle spawning, prop abuse, or actions that degrade server performance for others will result in removal.

Staff & Appeals

24Staff decisions are final during active sessions. If you believe a decision was incorrect, submit a formal appeal through the Discord ticket system or northcityrp.org/appeals.
25Do not contact staff about other players’ bans or punishment history. This is private information and will not be shared.
26False reports, manipulating staff, or attempting to mass-report a player as a coordinated action will result in punishment for all parties involved.
27Staff members are players too. Do not approach staff with IC issues in OOC spaces or use your relationship with staff to gain IC advantage. This is a bannable offense.
